As we all know, many works of James Joyce have the concern of the theme of “Escape”. The Little Cloud in Dublin is no exception. However, Derrida’s deconstruction doctrine, the elimination of the center, and the breaking of the binary opposition provide a new perspective for us to reconsider the issue. Different from the blind fiction of other fictions, the “Little Cloud” reveals the meaning of “Escape ” and is nowhere to escape with no place to escape. The crisis is overwhelming but helpless. Therefore, this article will use Derrida’s deconstruction doctrine to explain the many binary oppositions in Xiaoyun Duo and the resolution of the central theme of escape from three aspects: personages, scenes and themes.
