《生活大爆炸》非常别出心裁。佩妮和她那些科学家邻居们有不同的品味,不同的生活习惯,不同的文化背景,不同的兴趣,但是他们就被安排到了一起,有意思的是,还真是相处的不错。当我们生活在一个自由的社会,我们就必须接受在这个社会里的每个人都是不同的,每个人因为自身的不同点而立足在这个社会里。(只要前提是,我们不要伤害别人。)这是一个简单,但同时又有些严厉的容忍标准。而且在某些时候,说起来比做起来简单。看看谢尔顿和他妈妈,一般来说我们都觉得一个科学家应该比一个宗教信仰者更能够容忍他人。谢尔顿妈妈,玛丽认为只要坚持信仰,人就能够掌握真理。但是玛丽所说的真理,现在基本上在我们的生活中至少在这里是很少能够用的上的,宗教信仰者所说的真理就是指的是无论何时何地都信仰其真主,相比较而言,玛丽对科学主义作风还是接受的挺快的,科学主义作风指的是努力追求真理,但是同时也要承认在这个过程中存在的限制和谬误。
