Technical advancements have given birth to many netcronyms. This paper analyzes five methods which account for the formation of netcronym: acronym, initial, clipping, blending and homophonic pronunciation. Finally it is proposed that borrowing or transliteration will be the main trend of the translation of netcronyms on the basis of Adaptation Theory.
