Objective: To investigate the characteristics of bone metastases from lung cancer and the diagnostic value of bone imaging. METHODS: Retrospective analysis of 99mTc-MDP whole-body bone scan was performed in 231 patients with suspected bone metastases from lung cancer. Results: In 231 patients with lung cancer, 122 cases of bone metastases occurred, the incidence was 52.81%. The incidence of bone metastasis was 64.91% in lung adenocarcinoma and 41.44% in lung squamous cell carcinoma. There was a significant difference in the incidence of bone metastases between the two groups (P<0.01). The site of bone metastases is more common in the chest, followed by the spine, pelvis, limbs, and skull. Conclusion: Whole body bone imaging has high sensitivity and is suitable for the screening of bone metastatic tumors of lung cancer. Lung adenocarcinoma is more prone to bone metastasis than squamous cell carcinoma. The site of bone metastasis is more common in the chest.
