The company said that the company’s performance in 1998 benefited from the outstanding contribution of the hypnosis drug zolpidem (Stilnox). The product’s growth rate in 1998 was as high as 21% to 2.242 billion francs ($3.99 billion). And disclosed that it has suspended the development of chemotherapy antiemetic R-zacopride, because the phase II study of the product is not going well. The French group believes that the product does not show strong efficacy compared with Ondansetron (Zofran) of Glaxo Wellcome. The results of R-zacopride’s study have not been announced and it is scheduled to be in Europe in 2002.
