In the mid-1980s, the Chinese martial arts community conducted a nationwide campaign of organizing and excavating martial arts, calling it “Wushu excavation and finishing” or “digging and finishing” for short. This is the largest thorough investigation and arrangement of folk martial arts since the founding of People’s Republic of China because it took exactly the purpose of rescuing martial arts heritage shortly after the end of the Holocaust. This work was highly valued by the party’s and major state leaders at that time. It also attracted the attention of the Chinese people and Chinese people all over the world.
