一般地说,凡是新闻,都具有社会性,都可以叫作社会新闻。但这里说的社会新闻,是专指显示一定“社会相”的新闻,反映人们当前的性会生活、社会道德、社会风尚、社会秩序以及社会上与自然界特异现象的新闻。它报道的多是社会生活中的典型事件,严重的或普通存在的社会问题和能引起人们兴趣的社会、自然现象。它们往往发生在“八小时”以外。
