宜春慈化的白芍有三百多年的历史,分布于慈化人民公社的柏塘、芦家坊、西山、水塘等作业区.由于当地党政重视加以种植白芍化工少,成本小,收入大.同时采取了逐年栽逐年收的办法,和建立层层负责制,个个分任务,实行三包二定(三包是:包下肥、包除草、包管理;二定是:定数量、定质量),并规定60%收入为社所有,40%为奖励社员,因而大大加强了社员的责任心.扩大了种植面积,提高了农民生活水平,解决了白芍的紧张供应.
