蒙古族是甘肃10个主要少数民族之一。据1990年全国人口普查统计,甘肃共有蒙古族8354人,其中4158人聚居在肃北蒙古族自治县,其余分布在天祝、兰州、庆阳、肃南、武威、张掖等地。肃北蒙古族自治县成立于1950年7月,全县总面积约6748平方公里,约占甘肃省总面积的14.8%,是全省地域最辽阔的县份,也是甘肃唯一有国境线的边境县。甘肃的蒙古族,是从18世纪60年代开始从青海厄鲁特蒙
Mongolian is one of the 10 major ethnic minorities in Gansu. According to the 1990 national census, there were 8,354 Mongolians in Gansu, among which 4,158 lived in Subei Mongolian Autonomous County with the rest in Tianzhu, Lanzhou, Qingyang, Sunan, Wuwei and Zhangye. Subei Mongolian Autonomous County was established in July 1950, the county a total area of about 6,748 square kilometers, accounting for about 14.8% of the total area of Gansu Province, is the province’s most extensive counties, is also the only Border County in Gansu border.
