语言符号是整个文化系统的一个子系统，具有任意性和约定俗成的特性。同时，在不同的文化系统中，所约定俗成的语言符号系统是不一样的。我们学习一门外语，是在本族语和本族文化的基础之上，通过对另一种文化系统下语言符号的掌握．从而能够解决两种不同文化之间的语言交际问题。本文拟就英汉语言符号、非语言符号、以及礼仪符号在其文化背景下的一些差异性进行探讨，并提出对外语教学的指导意义。
Linguistic signs are a subsystem of the entire cultural system, with arbitrary and conventional characteristics. At the same time, in different cultural systems, the convention of the linguistic sign system is not the same. Our study of a foreign language is based on our own language and our own culture, through the mastery of the linguistic signs of another system of culture. Which can solve the problem of language communication between two different cultures. This article intends to explore some differences between English and Chinese language symbols, non-verbal symbols and etiquette symbols in their cultural backgrounds and proposes the guiding significance for foreign language teaching.
