The iron and steel and nonferrous metals design and research institutes affiliated to the Ministry of Metallurgy have developed some procedures in accordance with design work since the promotion of the use of electronic computers in civil engineering in 1972. At present, the six design institutes of the iron and steel system have put forward 18 more mature procedures, which have been audited and put into use for promotion. The eight design institutes of non-ferrous systems are currently testing 47 programs. Each design institute plans to complete 25 programs in 1980.
