奥氏体高锰钢的抗拉力和延展性很高,耐磨性和冲击韧性良好,受到突然冲击时不致破坏,故广泛用于机械工业中,特别是破碎机、球磨机等的零件。我厂过去生产高锰钢,仅用碱性电炉氧化法熔炼。1952年开始试用不氧化法。1956年又试验成功以酸性电炉熔炼,熔炼时间显著缩短,产量大大提高。后又改将全部锰铁加入包内,使锰的回收率达到90~98%。去年以来,对有关提高质量的几个问题亦进行了研究。现将生产情况简述如下。
