关于“歌剧”这一术语的不同理解进入20世纪后,人们对歌剧这种艺术体裁的理解发生了巨大的变化。早在20世纪头十年就有人认为:歌剧正处于危机状态,其前途茫茫,已不可能再继续获得发展。俄国音乐评论家、作曲家V.G.卡拉德金(Karaeigin,1875~1925)于1911年写道:“歌剧乃属旧时代的艺术品,从某种意义上来说,它多多少少又是现代的艺术。”他还把俄国杰出的女表演艺术家V.F科米萨尔热夫斯卡娅(Komissarzhevskaya,1864~1910)的看法——“我们正从歌剧走向配有音乐的话剧”这句名言放在所撰文章《戏剧与音乐》之首加以引用。
After the different understandings of the term “opera” entered the 20th century, great changes have taken place in the understanding of the genre of opera.
