《汉语拼音方案》于1958年经全国人民代表大会审订批准,正式颁布推行已经整整半个世纪了。《汉语拼音方案》是经过长期的调查研究,参考了海内外制定拼音方案的经验,经过反反复复的讨论,采取了非常审慎的步骤,才在多种不同的方案中优选出来的。半个世纪来推广汉语拼音的实践证明,这是我国拼音发展史上最具有活力、最能发挥作用的一套拼音方案。正如当年周恩来总理在题为《当前文字改革的任务》(1958年1月
“Hanyu Pinyin program” was approved by the National People’s Congress in 1958 for approval, formally promulgated and implemented for half a century. After a long period of investigation and study, the Hanyu Pinyin Scheme has made reference to the experience of formulating pinyin schemes both at home and abroad. After repeated discussions, it took very cautious steps and selected it from a wide range of different programs. Half a century to promote the practice of Pinyin proves that this is the history of Pinyin in China in the history of the most dynamic and most useful set of Pinyin program. Just as Premier Zhou Enlai said in his speech entitled “The Tasks of the Current Text Reform” (January 1958)
