Hermeneutik refers to the doctrine of understanding. Etymologically, the word hermeneuein in Greek means the statement, the comment, the explanation, and the understanding that the origin of the word is believed to be related to the divine messenger named Hermes in Greek mythology. The hermeneutical tradition began with the annotation of Homeric poetry and the interpretation of legal provisions in ancient Greece and Rome. The medieval Christian rule led to the unprecedented development of hermeneutics, the most important representative of which is the multiple meanings of the text proposed by Augustine. Augustine believes that the interpretation of the words in the Bible should not stick to the text
