钾是肥料三要素之一。甘蔗在整个生长发育过程中需要吸收的钾量最大,次为氮、磷。我省主要蔗区土壤的含钾量一般并不丰富,而过去不少的研究结果亦证实了施用钾肥(以硫酸钾为代表)有极明显的增产效果。但是,钾肥来源缺乏,一般只从土杂肥中得到小量的补充。近年来化肥工业的发展虽然很快,但钾肥的生产还远未能满足需要。我省是全国主要产盐区之一,利用制盐工业生产食盐以后留下的大量废液——苦卤进行
