职业倦怠是一种人们因为不能有效地缓解工作压力或不能妥善地应对工作中的挫折而经历的身心疲惫的状态。教师职业倦怠在教育教学中的突出表现是:教师在工作中缺乏职业道德和敬业精神,教学方式落后,教学作风懒散,对学生不负责任,对工作厌烦。严重的表现为自暴自弃,玩世不恭,有跳槽想法。其结果是教师厌教,学生厌学,相互影响,恶性循环,既影响教师队伍的稳定,又影响教育质量的提高,更不利于教育教学的改革,后果是相当严重的。
