杜维明,广东南海人,1940年生于云南昆明。哈佛大学哲学博士,现任北京大学高等人文研究院院长。曾任哈佛大学中国历史与哲学教授。1996年至2008年任哈佛大学燕京学社社长。1988年当选AmericanAcademy of Arts and Sciences院士。2010年9月17日被膺选为国际哲学学院院士。杜先生是当代儒学和中国文化研究的领军人物,被视作“新儒家第三期”的代表。代表作有《论儒学的宗教性:对〈中庸〉的现代诠释》。杜维明先生近年来致力于儒家文明的复兴与文明间对话。
Du Weiming, Guangdong Nanhai people, born in 1940 in Kunming, Yunnan. Ph.D., Harvard University, currently Dean, Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Peking University. Former Harvard University professor of Chinese history and philosophy. From 1996 to 2008, he was president of Yanjing Institute of Harvard University. 1988 elected American Academy of Arts and Sciences Fellow. September 17, 2010 was elected as the International Academy of Philosophy. Mr. Du is a leader in contemporary Confucianism and Chinese culture and is regarded as the representative of the Third Period of Neo-Confucianism. His masterpiece is “On the religious nature of Confucianism: a modern interpretation of The Mean.” In recent years, Mr. Du Weiming has devoted himself to the revival of Confucianism and dialogue among civilizations.
