赣州市西门加油站地处105国道与赣州市宋城路平面交叉的“人”字型路口。1985年,105国道按国家二级公路标准改造为水泥路面后,与宋城路形成38度的夹角,路口的东侧有一个大型加油站,南侧是一段长350米、坡度为4.3的坡路,西侧是赣南专修学院的出入口,北侧则是一段长600米、坡度为4.6的坡路（见附图）。近两年来,在此路段发生交通事故139起,其中造成重大经济损失及致人伤亡的事故43起,直接经济损失53万多元。通过对事故成因汇总分析发现,复杂的地形是导致事故多发的主要原因,具体表现在四个方面:
Ganzhou West Gate gas station is located in 105 State Road and Ganzhou City Songcheng Road plane crossing the “human” type intersection. In 1985, State Road 105 was converted into a cement road surface according to the national secondary road standards, forming an angle of 38 degrees with Songcheng Road. There was a large gas station on the east side of the intersection and a section of 350 meters long and a slope of 4.3 on the south side On the west side is the entrance to Gannan Institute of Technology. On the north side is a 600-meter slope with a grade of 4.6 (see attached map). In the past two years, 139 traffic accidents occurred on this section of the road, causing 43 major economic losses and casualties, with a direct economic loss of more than 530,000 yuan.
