Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is located in Northwest China, with an area of 1.6 million square kilometers, accounting for one-sixth of the total area of China. It has a 5,400-km borderline, with the Commonwealth of Independent States, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India as its neighbors.Xinjiang is known for its beautiful grasslands, splendid snow-capped mountains and vast desert. Billions of years of natural evolution has given Xinjiang colorful natural landscapes.Thirteen minority nationalities live in this region—the Uygur, Kirgiz, Kazak, Tajik, Hui, Mongol, Xibe, Russian, Uzbek, Man, Daur, Han and Tatar These nationalities have an ancient history, splendid culture and unique national styles.
