我市从1965年开始试验以来,菜田化学除草面积逐年扩大,目前江东等公社的主要菜队已广泛应用化学除草,有的队种的韭菜基本不再进行人工除草。一、菜田采用化学除草的好处1.能战胜草荒,保证蔬菜高产稳产。草荒是蔬菜生产上的一个问题,影响产量和质量,每年都有一部分田头因草荒而毁种绝产。应用化学除草后,改变了这种现象,1976年金厂公社前进、跃进两个大队的晚芹菜,使用了扑草净除草,亩产突破了1.1万斤。1978年江东公社治安六队的老根韭菜,由于使用了化学除草,亩产达到了5,100斤,比往年没有使用化学除草的,增产两成多,同时还收了130多斤韭菜籽,仅这一项就多收入了500多元。
