一次浅源大地震常伴随大量余震,某些大震还有前震或前兆性震群,构成一个大震序列的孕育、发生、衰减的全过程.由于地震序列在时间和空间上相当集中,便于观测,且其规律性也相对强一些,因此,早就有不少地震学者从事地震序列的研究工作,使得此项研究取得了较大进展.大致可分为以下几个方面:地震序列类型的划分;地震序列的时间分布特征;地震序列的空间分布特征;地震序列的震级系列;地震序列的理论模型和实验模拟;地震序列研究成果在地震预报中的应用.
