The implementation of the new EU standard on tea monitoring is putting Guangdong tea at risk of losing this market. Since August 1 this year, the implementation of the new EU standards, August-October exports of tea to the EU only 53.4 tons, down 91.2% over the same period last year; of which exports to the EU in October only 15 tons, down 95.5% . According to the new EU test, residues of endosulfan (a broad-spectrum insecticide against acaricidal activity) in tea leaves were adjusted from 30 mg / kg to 0.01 mg / kg, which is equivalent to the “ Strict 3000 times ”. What is even more worrisome is that the EU will implement the new laws and regulations on the safety of food and feedstuffs by January next year, greatly improving the market access standards for food products. In addition, Japan will implement the “Positive List System for Residues of Agrochemicals in Food” from May next year, in which a number of pesticide residues in the tea industry will be stricter.
