陆九渊一生,处于内忧外患的南宋前期。在其十九年的仕宦生涯中,虽历经孝、光二宗,先后多次受命,但实际就任的只有一年多的国子正,三年多的中央敕局删定官和一年多的知荆门军。陆九渊不仅是一位罕见的儒家大学者,同时具有超乎俗儒的政治管理才德。可惜,这种才德在孝宗时代不仅未能得到足够的赏识和充分的发挥,反而使他遭受排挤和冷遇。若没有后来光宗的荆门之命,陆九渊的政治管理才德势必会埋没至死。为理清这桩公案,有必要将陆九渊的仕途与有关事迹分阶段地展示给世人。
