豌豆是我省主要食用豆类作物,省内豌豆主要分布在东部农业区,海西、海南等地近几年栽培面积也在扩大。据互助、大通、湟中等县调查,豌豆栽培面积最大的是浅山(占其粮食作物播种面积26—34％);半脑山次之(占18—20％);脑山栽培面积较小(占13—15％)。我省历年豌豆栽培面积变动在60—80万亩之间,约占作物播种面积10％,在粮食作物中其栽培面积仅次于小麦青稞。其中互助、大通、
