This article reports two cases of amyotrophic lateral beam sclerosis caused by exposure to inorganic mercury (Hgo). The patient is two white men who work to make Hgo, contact Hgo particles and a smaller amount of mercury vapor. Personal protection at work is to wear protective clothing, wearing gas masks (the canister has a saturated iodine activated carbon) and gloves before bath to wash clothes. Both patients were in good health in the past with no history of exposure to pesticides, solvents, arsenic, lead and other toxic substances.
