戏剧,包括话剧和戏曲,是以舞台演出的艺术样式,将艺术内容诉诸观众的。基于中西文化的差异,各自有各自对舞台二维平面作艺术处理的方式,也就建构了再现性摹仿与形象性表意两类不同的艺术表现方法。中国话剧艺术舶于西方,却发展于东方,但在近半个世纪的岁月里,在艺术形式上未能作出重大突破,直至新历史时期,才在对舞台画框内的艺术时空,作出扩大艺术容量的艺术表现的同时,渐次使之衍化为形象表意的。在淡化情节叙事的同时,不注重生活转化的艺术表现。因而,有的主创人员为作哲理性、技巧性的自我实现,将观众置之于被动的接受状态,必然要遭遇观众的冷漠。
