The theme of the book is to follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics and to adhere to the basic line of “one center, two basic points” on the basis of figuring out what is socialism and how to build it without socialism. 3. The strategic goal highlighted in the book is “three steps” to basically realize modernization and build a prosperous, strong, democratic and civilized modern socialist country. 4. The basic principles repeatedly stated in the book, that is, socialist material civilization and spiritual civilization, “have two hands and both hands must be hard.” 5.
