中国艺术,博大精深,自古对世界文化的发展产生积极的影响力。但近百年以来,由于各种原因,以西方文化为代表的其他文化大量涌入,体现其文化精神的外国“艺术大师”、“艺术名牌”深入国人之心,相比之下,中国文化向外扩展渗透的力度始终不够。国人可以越来越明显地感觉到中国艺术对世界艺术缺乏必要的影响力,在绘画、雕塑领域还是建筑、服装、工业产品等设计领域,我们虽然人才济济,却一直没有响亮的、足以发挥世界性影响的中国品牌。从发展中国文化的战略目标来考虑,集国家力量和社会意识主动建树中国艺术品牌已经成为一种历史使命,我们对此抱以高度的关注。
