刻瓷是陶瓷美术装饰新技法的一种。我国古代在陶瓷器上刻花装饰的传统方法是多种多样的,而且应用很普遍。或在施釉前的坯体上刻制,或在化妆土上刻划,或在烧制前的釉面上剔刻,达到了很高的艺术水平。刻瓷艺术则是在此基础上的一种新发展。它是在施釉烧成后的瓷器上刻凿加工而成的。其历史虽然不长,但却能形成多种艺术效果,总的说来,具有浓厚的金石之趣,拥有笔锋描抹不可代替的独特韵味,因之受到国内外市场的欢迎。
