在编译此英国Cassell词典时,时而会碰到一些难以理解或难以翻译的成语,不得不求助于多种技艺,以使问题获得切实解决,为此,文中引用了不少实例,以阐明尤金.奈达的翻译指导原则和杰弗里.里奇的“意义之四层次”的真谛。
In compiling this British Cassell dictionary, I sometimes encounter idioms that are hard to understand or difficult to translate. I have to resort to many kinds of skills so as to effectively solve the problems. For this reason, I cite a lot of examples to illustrate Eugene Nida ’s translation guidelines and Geoffrey Ritchie’ s “four levels of meaning”.
