当今语用学研究的两大主题是话语生存和话语理解。Grice的会话理论是当今语用学的理论基础。Sperber & Wilson的关联理论是认知语用学的基础。两种学说在语言学界产生了空前的影响，并引起了广泛的注意。先概述两种理论的基本观点；然后初步讨论其差异：合作原则与关联性，暗含交际与暗含明说交际，隐喻、认知语境与语境假设；最后谈谈几点拙见。
The two major themes of pragmatics research today are discourse survival and discourse comprehension. Grice’s theory of conversation is the theoretical foundation of current pragmatics. Sperber & Wilson’s relevance theory is the basis of cognitive pragmatics. Both doctrines have had unprecedented influence in the linguistic world and have attracted widespread attention. First summarize the basic views of the two theories; then discuss the differences initially: the principle of cooperation and relevance, implicit communication and implicit communication, metaphor, cognitive context, and contextual assumptions; and finally, a few observations.
