“一碗泉”是个地名,位于鄯善至哈密中间的公路旁,这里树无一棵、草无一根,四周是一望无际的大戈壁。一碗泉水深不足50厘米,在一米见方的坑中只有一点积水,可它周围到处是断墙残壁,窖洞地窝,据考证一碗泉还是一个丝绸之路上的重要驿站呢!历史文献有不少记载。一碗泉正好处在东疆大戈壁的中心,几百公里无人烟,古丝道上的驼队在茫茫戈壁走几天能遇到这么点救命之水,真是如天降甘露,难怪清代诗人史长善所写的一碗泉诗中有:
