在鲁南苏北毗邻处,有一个带状串形的著名大湖——微山湖。微山湖又叫南四湖,由微山、独山、昭阳、南阳四湖组成。它是我国北方最大的淡水湖泊,素有鲁南明珠之称。它南北长达120公里,总面积1370多平方公里。东依京沪铁路,南抵战略要地徐州,京杭大运河穿湖而过。空中鸟瞰,微山湖象一条南首北尾,斜卧在苏鲁皖三省交界处的巨龙。白马河、运河、泗河、汶河等大河,有如条条龙须,伸延到沿湖四省三十四个县市。湖边星罗棋布的渔村象一片片鳞甲。
