牙龈美学的目标是在修复前获得最佳的牙龈状态并在修复中最小的创伤以维持修复牙周围正常健康的牙龈外貌。采用部份冠、龈上边缘的无颈圈金瓷修复体可避免接触牙龈,采用龈下边缘线应严格掌握操作要点,尽可能不伤及牙龈组织。避免接触牙龈:部份冠能避免与唇侧牙龈接触,在可用龈上边缘者不用龈下边缘,尤其对青春期患者,因此类患者更易加速牙龈退缩或移位。关于龈上边缘的美观问题,有研究表明,被测人群中33%的人大多数可见的前牙其龈缘在微笑时不显露,即使在大笑时也有16%
