贵州是我国猕猴桃分布中心之一,迄今为止已查清的我国拥有的猕猴桃59个种、43个变种和7个变型中,贵州就有34个种和种下分类群.我所是贵州最早研究、开发猕猴桃的,自1979年开始搜集野生猕猴桃进行人工驯化及品种选育,1984年承担“猕猴桃品种选育、经济栽培、加工及综合利用研究”项目,1986年转为“七五”攻关项目,后经多家中位协作攻关,取得一批研究成果,选育出“贵长”、”贵密”等
