白隐禅师是日本修行很高的高僧,不论道德行为或是学识规范都让人敬佩。据说,某官员来拜访他,谈到了生死的问题。官员便好奇地问:“地狱和天堂是存在的吗?如果存在,可否带我参观?”于是,白隐禅师说了一些不雅的话,羞辱官员。官员急得跳脚,用脏话回敬禅师,白隐禅师说:“你不是想参观地狱吗?你已经参观完了。”官员立即醒悟,知道白隐禅师是以身示教,便谦恭地向禅师表示歉意。白隐禅师点头笑
Master Bai Yin is a monk with a high spiritual priesthood in Japan, and admires both ethical behavior and academic norms. It is said that an official came to visit him and talked about the issue of life and death. Officials asked curiously: “Is hell and paradise present? If there is, can you take me to visit?” So, Master Bai Yin said some indecent words, shame officials. Officials hurriedly jerked their feet and reproached the Zen master with bad words. Master Bai Yin said: “You do not want to visit hell? You have finished your visit.” Immediately, the officer remembered that Master Bai Yin apologized humblely to Zen Master . Zen Buddhism nodded his head laughing
