How to arrange one year’s farm work, how to implement it, and how it affects the national economy and the people’s livelihood are almost the topics to be written in the party’s newspaper editorial each year. What attracts people’s attention is that in the spring of 1961, the People’s Daily published two editorials on this issue one after another, talking about the same theme - seeking truth from facts. An article entitled “Planting Plans Must Be Realistic,” is published on March 1; the other is entitled “Planting Plans Should Be Built on The Basis of Probability,” to be published on April 22. Why did they publish two editorials in a relatively short period of time? In the original “Great Leap Forward,” the mistakes made in agricultural production such as high targets and blind instructions were rectified and were not completely resolved by 1961. At the time of planting plan It still does not proceed from reality. It only emphasizes the need to consider the possibility without regard to the need of one side and does not look at the need of many sides to unilaterally expand the cultivation of one or two high-yield crops. It is precisely for this kind of situation that the People’s Daily publishes its editorials and goes on to talk about the necessity of seeking truth from facts. The first editorial
