与CD家族中的CD-RW一样,MD也有可重写格式 MD-RW。下面将关注MD-RW详细的记录和回放原理。只读MD与CD一样,也采用聚碳酸脂基片和同样的坑点结构。那么是否可记录和可重写格式的MD也基于类似的CD-R/RW技术?答案是否定的,两回事! 首先,没有MD-R这种媒质,因此也不需要CD-R的染料技术。所有的可记录MD都是可重写的,既然只有MD- RW。MD-RW所应用的记录材料与CD-RW的相变材料不同,其记录原理是基于磁、热和光效应,称为磁光效应 (MO)。

The recording material used by MD-RW is different from the phase-change material of CD-RW. The recording principle is based on the magneto-optic effect (MO) based on the magnetic, thermal and optical effects.
