During my trip to the United States, I met a professor and poet who taught literature in the United States. He said he likes Chinese Tang poetry but he does not understand Chinese. Speaking of new poetry, he does not even know Ai Qing. In preparation for the conversation with him, I borrowed an English translation of Tang poetry from foreign students. The English translator is a famous scholar, translator and poet in China. The translated poems are mainly quatrains and poems. I was surprised to find that the gap between the translation and the original Tang poetry was so great: the rhyme changed (almost all became AA, BB
