老年人随着年龄增长,腺体渐渐萎缩,唾液分泌会逐渐减少。但是,老年人也会发生唾液增多的现象,这往往是疾病的征兆,主要有4个原因:一是异物反应,如装假牙,会刺激腺体分泌唾液。二是口腔溃疡,溃疡面会造成黏膜疼痛,刺激唾液分泌增多。三是口腔肿瘤,如颊癌较常见,起病时一般表现为溃疡,发展较慢,早期不容易引起警觉,当溃疡向深层逐渐浸润,感觉疼痛时,就会刺激腮腺导管,导致口水增多。四是精神、心理反应等,也会刺激唾液分泌。
