潘富恩、徐余庆师生第三度合作的结晶——《吕祖谦评传》(以下略作《评传》),作为匡亚明先生主编的大型学术工程《中国思想家评传丛书》之一种,前不久由南京大学出版社刊行了。这是近年来国内有关宋代思想史研究,更确切地说是南宋“浙东学派”研究所获得的一项重大成果。(一) 吕祖谦是南宋时期的著名思想家、教育家,又是个造诣颇深的史学家和文学家。他生于宋高宗绍兴七年(1137),卒于宋孝宗淳熙八年(1181)。字伯恭,学者称东莱先生,为别于乃伯祖“大东莱先生”吕本中,又有“小东莱”之号。溢曰:“成”,学者亦多尊之为“吕成公”。吕氏祖籍山西,后世屡迁,北宋时曾居安徽寿春、河南开封等地。靖康之乱,宋室南渡,曾祖吕好问亦携家南徙,至婺州
