十年来,晋江市集中力量多渠道筹集资金,着力加强以市政建设为龙头的供水、供电、通讯、道路和市政五大基础设施网络的建设,固定资产投资规模明显扩大,投资硬件进一步优化,2001年全社会固定资产投资完成34.60亿元,十年来,基本建设投资累计完成29.45亿元。 ——立体交通基本形成。建成了以市区为中心,辐射15个镇的高等级水泥公路网,公路密度达到陆域每百公里236公里,名列全国前茅。福厦高速公路从晋江贯穿而过,把晋江与省会福州和厦门经济特区紧密相联。建成深沪、围头两个万吨级码头和19个500-1000吨级泊位码头。1996年自筹资金建成4D级泉州晋江机场,目前已开通14条国内航线和香港、马尼拉临时包机,2001年旅客吞吐量、货物吞吐量脐身全国149个通航机场的前50位。
