In recent years confirmed that atherosclerotic lesions in foam cells derived from mononuclear macrophages, diabetes has been found in patients with elevated levels of glycosylated low density lipoprotein (LDL), metabolic abnormalities. In this paper, 12 cases of diabetes mellitus and 12 cases of age were compared by radioimmunoassay. Gender-matched healthy human blood LDL metabolism in human peripheral blood macrophages found that LDL intake and degradation in diabetic patients was significantly higher than that in the control group, and macrophages incubated with it significantly increased cholesterol. It is suggested that the interaction between LDL and macrophages in diabetic patients tends to form foam cells. The hyperglycemia-induced LDL glycosylation and its metabolic abnormalities may be one of the important mechanisms of diabetic susceptibility to atherosclerosis.
