曼硕同志于85年一月十一日零时三十分与世长辞,离开我们已经二年多了!我从与他相识到他去世,算来已有五十多年。他是我的老师和挚友,半个世纪间的交往,他的言谈举止亲切感人,一切犹如昨天一样,历历在目。一九三六年暑假,我离开任教两年的山东省肥城县立第二小学来到北平,打算报考北平国立艺专,我和曼硕同志是同乡,就去找他,因为他很忙未能见到。我到艺专报了名,快考试时,我给曼硕同志通了电话,他表示欢迎我来报考,他的话语虽不多,但平易近人,我对他的敬仰之心从此而生。开学后不久,我在学习之余去曼硕同志家看望他,我们初见如故,因为在家乡第二小学时,我教过他两个孩子的美术课,他对我益加亲热,留我吃便饭。那时他已是身兼京华美术学院和国立艺专两校的教授,却仍是自理生活,十分俭朴。那时我还不会做饭,就看着他一面同我交谈着,轻松愉快地把饭做好了,于是我们两个吃了一顿可口的家常饭。开学后,曼硕同志主讲素描,在课堂上他与同学们平等地商量问题。对学生们的素描作业,他总是先肯定每个同学的成绩、优点,然后指出不足之处,再由同学们自己校对纠正。上素描课时,讲到打轮廓、定比例等方面的问题,他都让我们先从大处着眼,时时注意大的效果,而列于每个局部关
