On October 11, 2012, Chinese writer Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel Prize for Literature, which brought a “Mo Tornado” in the world literary world. Mo Yan, formerly known as pipe industry, was born in 1955 in Gaomi County, Shandong Province. The upsurge of local works in the 1980s was fraught with complicated emotions such as “nostalgia” and “resentment” and was classified as a writer of “root-seeking literature.” His works are deeply influenced by magical realism. In 2011, he won the Eighth Mao Dun Literature Award with the novel “Frog”.
