去年,吴贻弓同志被评上第三届电影“金鸡奖”最佳导演奖后,并没到福州去领奖,而是正在甘肃河西走廊的沙漠里奔波,赶拍新片《姐姐》。他为什么会选上《姐姐》这个剧本?原来,早在一九八一年拍摄《巴山夜雨》时,他和剧作家叶楠合作默契,结下深厚的友谊,两人就相约再度合作。影片一结束,他俩结伴到甘肃省的河西走廊,深入生活,搜集创作素材。在山丹军马场和张掖地区,他们听到许多二万五千里长征时西路红军,特别是妇女独立团可歌可泣的动人事迹和裕固族的传说,觉得十分感人。这激发了他们的创作欲望。接着他们又来到祁连山裕固族居住的地区,在海拔三四千米的高山上,见到了西路红军失败以后流散的红军战士用刺刀在岩石上刻下的镰
