电视导演作为电视创作活动的主体,在电视创作的过程中,其个体因素显得特别重要,他既是创作心理承受者、运用者,又是创作过程的推动、运作、完成者。对于电视导演而言,他是一个有机整体的存在,同时,他又是风格化的代言人。个性是对一切事物存在必要性的肯定,对于电视导演而言,个性是区别于其他的重要手段,也是电视作品价值体现的主要标准。
