五年前的盛夏时节,我和柳勇于北京不期而遇,同拜于当代书坛翘楚毛国典先生门下,从此结下不解之缘。柳勇自幼秉承家传,六岁发蒙,在爷爷和父亲的指导下学习书法,从颜柳楷书入手,日课《多宝塔碑》、《玄秘塔》,经年临池不辍,打下坚实的根基。及长考入河南农业大学,课余仍以习书为娱,孜孜以求。期间开始临习《乙瑛碑》、《曹全碑》,表现形式上逐渐山楷书向隶书追溯,艺术追求上也从重法度转向书写意趣的表达,作品风格日趋高古。2005
