一、铁矿资源、产量和生产概况据美国地质调查所资料,美国铁矿工业储量约90亿吨,远景储量916亿吨。在美国铁矿资源中,沉积变质矿床占76.1%,沉积矿床占6.9%,岩浆矿床占11.8%,接触交代矿床占0.8%,较年轻的风化壳占3.3%,未划分的及其他占1.1%。铁矿资源主要集中在跨明尼苏达、密执安和威斯康星三州的苏必利尔湖地区,占总储量的74.2%,以明尼苏达州的默萨比矿区的储量最大。
